Gillingham's District Youth Commissioner

Mandy Keywood has been appointed to lead the adventure for young people in GIllingham scouting.

In the new role of District Youth Commissioner, Mandy will support and develop local Scouting making sure the voice of young people is heard at every level. She is tasked with making sure our Leadership Teams listen to our young peopleís voices and opinions and that Scouting delivers what they really want. Working alongside Dean Harding, District Commissioner, and David Ainsley District Chair, Mandy will help Gillingham Scouting achieve its 2018 vision to be more youth-shaped.

Mandy will be joined in her new role by David Harris as Deputy Youth Commissioner.

A new challenge

Mandy and David have been involved in Scouting for many years and have both been through the movementís training scheme starting at 6 years old. Mandy is currently a Cub Scout leader, getting ready to celebrate the 100 years of cub scouting celebrations taking place next year and David is just about to start running a new scout troop in the District, becoming the youngest scout leader in Gillingham.

Mandy and David are both passionate about the impact Scouts has on young peopleís lives and during their appointments they look forward to ensuring that young people have fantastic opportunities and ultimately experience Scouting to the fullest.
